Client Brief
To create a visual identity and promotional materials that would reflect the students that would perform at the 2023 Bachelor of Music Showcase.
Concept Development
Primary Image:
My primary image provided a novel way of representing the upcoming Bachelor of Music Showcase. Music is often visualised through electronic programs, providing a sterile and indistinguishable way of ‘seeing’ the music. I wanted to move away from this and provide an analogue approach that is built on a data visualisation approach. The colours used correlated to the data provided by students in a class survey. Additionally, the use of a circle symbolised how the student's journey does not necessarily have a start and end point, but rather represents an ongoing continuum for which learning and growth continue. The play icon represents pressing play, both a general reference to music and the commencement of the showcase.
Logo:
My logo was created digitally in Adobe Illustrator to provide a juxtaposition to the primary image, which was created by hand. The squares in the logo are reminiscent of older-style digital technology which were referenced by the students in their survey.
Visual Outcome
The visual identity I created encompassed:
1. A logo.
2. A poster to advertise the event.
3. Event day merchandise.
4. A booklet to accompany the showcase.

A poster to help advertise the event at Kingswood Campus, Western Sydney University.

The music performances would be recorded and provided to attendees to listen to at home.

A tote bag containing the accompanying booklet (below) would be provided on the night.

The accompanying booklet that details all the performances through the night.
